Dragonfly Collie – Success with new variation of collie dog
20/09/2010
I tied up a variation on my Collie dog, adding Lady Amherst tail fibres over the goat hair wing and metalic like blue green neck feather of the Peacock at front on top. In the water on what was a pretty bright day it certainly looked attractive and the Amherst fibres moved well and the black and white bars seem to give it added movement at times as they move and flicker away from body, slightly like a dragonfly I like to think. Anyway it did the job for me on Friday August 20th down on the Gledfield beat, after half a dozen casts or so in the Little falls pool, a small grilse turned at the fly next cast he came again and a little 3lb grilse was hooked, played, safely landed and released.
I will put full dressing of the fly on the flies section of this web site soon.
